Sonia grew up immersed in international folk music, folk dancing, and folk festivals in the Washington, D.C. area. She took a long break, but got back into folk dancing upon moving to Portland, Oregon in 2005. Sonia moved back to Oakland, California in 2022. In-person dancing and singing may resume there as the pandemic allows.
